GSE introduces an adapter designed for bi-directional communication between a standard RS232 signal and fiber-optic cable. The result is a connection between peripherals and I.S. indicators over fiber-optic cables between the safe and hazardous areas. Transfer distance is typically over 250 feet. The adapter is easy to install; just cut fiber optic cable (not included), insert it into the adapter, and plug into a PC, printer, or other peripheral device. In most cases, additional external power supply is not required when operated on standard RS232 ports with handshake lines. No re-configuration of transmission parameters required.
